COMMUNITY FOOD ADVISORS

The Community Food Advisor (CFA) program trains and supports volunteers who provide information and programs promoting healthy eating and food safety to consumers in Huron County. The typical CFA volunteer is someone who loves food and has some knowledge and skills in food handling. They participate in a peer training program which is certified by the Huron County Health Unit.

FARMS TO FOOD BANKS
In 2009 and 2010 the United Communities Credit Union responded to the significant increase in demand on area food banks. They donated $75,000 in perishable foods (apples, potatoes, ground beef and sausage) from local farmers to food banks in several areas, including Huron and Perth counties.
